IU East Athletics Roundup for March 21

GOLF – TWO FROM IU EAST EARN GOLFER OF THE WEEK HONORS

FLORENCE, Ky. – Indiana University East golfers Tyler Pearson and Lexie Fields claimed River States Conference Golfer of the Week honors for the week of March 13-19, the league announced.

Pearson shot a final-round 75 to register a Top 25 finish at the Point University Skyhawk Invitational, which had 92 total golfers. Pearson was the top performer for IU East.

Fields had two rounds in the 80s to place 25th at the tournament, which had 68 golfers in the women’s field.

The next event for both IU East teams is March 27 and 28 at the Lindsey Wilson College Spring Fling.

SOCCER – CASCADE SENIOR SIGNS WITH IU EAST

RICHMOND, Ind. – Tyler Fox, a senior at Cascade High School (Ind.), has signed a letter of intent to join the new Indiana University East men’s soccer program for the team’s inaugural season during the 2017-18 school year.

Red Wolves coach Steve Moore announced the signing March 21.

Fox helped Cascade win three conference championships during his high school career. He was a three-year starter, an all-county and all-conference honoree, and the recipient of Cascade’s mental attitude award.

Tyler is the son of Todd and Ann Fox. He plans to major in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.

“I really like IU East because it is a small school, and I also will finish with an IU education,” Fox wrote. “I also like that IU East offers a cadet officer program that I can work towards getting into.”

IU East in 2016 announced plans to add NAIA men’s and women’s soccer programs. The teams will begin NAIA competition during the 2017-18 school year.
