Henry Co. HS Boys Basketball Sectional Pairings

Class 4A – Sectional 9 at New Castle

New Castle has received the bye. The Trojans will play the winner of Greenfield-Central and Pendleton Heights on Friday at 7:30 PM. New Castle defeated Greenfield-Central 53-37 on Jan. 13th. However, the Trojans lost the Hoosier Heritage Conference title-game 71-68 on Valentine’s Day. Last season, New Castle made it to the championship game of this sectional but fell to Connersville 63-55.

Class 2A – Sectional 42 at Triton Central

Shenandoah has received a bye. The Raiders will take on the winner of Tuesday’s game between Irvington Prep and Eastern Hancock on Friday at 6 PM. The Raiders have not played Irvington Prep in recent history, but they definitely have a history with the Royals. The Raiders defeated Eastern Hancock 58-39 on Jan. 21st. Shenandoah seeks its first sectional title since the 2006-2007 season.

Knightstown also received a bye. The Panthers will face the winner of Indianapolis Howe and Triton Central at 7:30 PM on Friday. The Panthers suffered a 108-49 loss to Howe on Dec. 28th. Howe also defeated Knightstown in sectional last season. Knightstown has not played Triton Central since Chad Ballenger was the head coach in 2006-2007. The Panthers are looking for their first sectional championship since 2005-2006.

Class 1A – Sectional 56 at Blue River Valley

Tri will play Blue River in the opening round on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. The Titans and Vikings last clashed on Dec. 2nd where Tri won 63-53. These teams also matched up with each other in the opening round of last year’s sectional. That game went to the Vikings with a final score of 62-55 in overtime. The Vikings then fell to Seton Catholic. Tri has not won a sectional championship since 2004-2005, and Blue River since 2010-2011.
