MIDWAY, Ky. – A last-second 3-pointer made the difference as the Indiana University East women’s basketball team fell 64-63 at Midway University on Jan. 26.
The NAIA Division II No. 21 Red Wolves (19-5, 10-1) had a nine-game winning streak snapped. The Eagles are 16-7 overall and 7-4 in the league.
Midway’s Jasmine Johnson swished a 3-pointer from the right corner with 10 seconds remaining for what proved to be the winning points.
IU East got three shots in the lane in the waning seconds, but all three attempts bounded off of the rim.
The Red Wolves had recovered from a 17-0 deficit to start the game to build a six-point lead in the final quarter. Midway finished the game on an 11-4 run.
Tia King scored 19 points for IU East. Kristen Miller added 17 points.
Jasmine Johnson scored 21 points for Midway.
IU East visits Indiana University Southeast on Jan. 28. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. in the first game of a women’s-men’s River States Conference doubleheader.
