RICHMOND, Ind. – Tori Hampton, a recent Shelbyville (Ind.) High School graduate, has signed a letter of intent to compete in track and field at Indiana University East starting with the 2016-17 school year.
Red Wolves coach David Sanders announced the signing July 6.
Hampton competed in the sprints at Shelbyville. She finished in the top four in the 100 meter dash at Shelbyville’s conference meet.
“Tori will come in and add depth in the shorter sprints,” Sanders said. “We are excited about adding a great kid into the program. She’s nowhere near her potential in track and field, and we can’t wait to see her grow and get better.”
Tori is the daughter of Nichole Hampton and Tanisha Mukes. She plans to major in business.
“I chose IU East because it is small, it is close to home, and I also get to run track,” Hampton wrote.
Hampton joins Kate Albertson from Bedford North Lawrence, Erika Beil from South Dearborn, Autumn Bleil from Northeastern, Melissa Grimes from East Central, Sarah Hornak from Seton Catholic, Zoee Kear from Monroe Central, Sarah Mallory from Winchester and Ashley Toschlog from Centerville in IU East’s 2016 women’s cross country/track and field recruiting class.
IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolf cross country and track and field programs have been represented at the NAIA national meet six times in eight years of NAIA competition.
