INDIANAPOLIS (July 4, 2016) – Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Gerrit Cole is scheduled to start for the Indians against Louisville on a Major League rehab assignment Tuesday night at Victory Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Cole temporarily joins the Tribe after being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right triceps strain. Prior to the injury, the right-hander was 5-4 with a 2.77 ERA in 12 starts for the Pirates this season.
The California native was named to the 2015 National League All-Star team during a campaign that saw him finish second in the league in wins (19), fifth in ERA (2.60), seventh in innings pitched (208.0), and 10th in strikeouts (202).
Cole spent parts of the 2012-14 seasons with Indianapolis, where he went 9-4 with a 2.80 ERA. He will be available to the media immediately following his departure from the game.
