NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team will make its 21st consecutive NCAA Division I Women’s Championship appearance this season, as the Irish head to Columbus, Ohio, to face the 25th-ranked UCLA Bruins in the Round of 64.
The No. 43 Irish (14-13) and Bruins (14-6) will face off in the first-round match on May 13, while the host No. 5 Ohio State (28-2; No. 4 overall seed) takes on Youngstown State (12-12) on the other side of the pod. The winners will match up on May 15 for the opportunity to advance to the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship, May 19-24.
Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three (3) eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six (6) singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets. Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.
